Introduction

Quest of Sages follows the real-life journey of an artist who has embarked on a quest to photograph one person from every country in the world. The journey is retold both as a travelogue of actual events and as a fictional narrative. In the narrative, our hero is tasked with saving humanity, which can only be done by seeking out the lost sages of the world and collecting their wisdom. The people who are photographed in each country for the art component of the project become the sages characterized in the narrative. The ancient wisdom gathered in the fictional retelling of the tale are original quotes and insight collected from the subjects of each photograph.

Intertwined and connected, the artwork and the narrative live in parallel universes; fueling one another further into the story. People, places and events from the real world are written into the story alongside mythological gods and spiritual entities inspired by cultures from around the globe; creating a fusion of art, literature and philosophy that transcends the boundaries of traditional storytelling. As the lines between reality and fantasy blur, there is no telling where the story may go. You, as the reader, are able to follow a truly fictional tale without a preconceived beginning, middle and end.

Upon the completion of the project, the narrative will be redrafted into one cohesive epic poem. The final poem and the completed art project are meant to serve as figurative representations of the enlightenment attained at the end of the quest. Whether or not enlightenment will be acquired remains, for now, a mystery.
