    Founded on May 8, 1910 in Bern, the EJV endeavors to preserve, maintain and promote Swiss customs such as yodeling, blowing the alphorn and waving flags. Its members come from all walks of life; the association is politically and denominationally neutral. At the moment there are over 21,000 taking part; their number is still increasing despite modern trends.
