Part 6 | The Dragon

ChineseTheater_Web.jpg

Stars shine.  Brightly illuminating a dreary cityscape
Stars in the sky.  Starts on the ground
Stars walking among us
Hollywood.  A dreamers paradise
Following the walk of fame.  A great theater
Celebrities immortalized.  In cemented ground
Welcoming.  A grand entrance
Imprints.  Both hand and foot
A symbol.  Honoring those who’ve made it
The Chinese Theater

Tourists.  Hundreds.  Pack bustling streets
A young boy.  Cries for his mother
Separated.  Frightened.  Alone
I take the child’s hand.  Vow to find her
Lifting him.  High on my shoulders
He spots her.  Calls out
She runs toward us
Tears in her eyes.  Reunited

Door opens.  Inviting
Entering a dimly lit den. Lined with lanterns
In the center.  Coiled.  Scales of emerald
Smokey apparition.  Floating
Snout blowing flames
Sapphire eyes.  Golden dome.  Ruby tail
Stretched long.  Hovering off the floor
The Dragon.

He speaks

“Come close.  Hear me well
I won't be fooled by half hearted gestures
You may have deceived my brothers and sisters
I am not so moved by your seemingly goodwill
Yes.  You helped that boy moments ago
Were your actions of pure heart?
Or simply an attempt to win my good graces?
Alas.  You come to me asking for my blessing
I shall grant it to you
Though.  Not for your nobility.  Fake one
I grant you passage on your foolish journey
To revel in your demise
Be gone now.  Head into the hills
Not far from here
Where famed white letters live.  On the mountainside
Go now.  Fake one.  And seek out The Bobcat
